Melbourne’s COIVD-related venue restrictions are beginning to ease, with news today that hotels, bars, outdoor entertainment venues and more across the city will be able to reopen this week.
As The Guardian reports, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed during today's press conference that, from 11.59 pm this coming Tuesday, restaurants, hotels, cafes, bars and more will be able to reopen.
“Indoor, there will be a maximum of 20 people, seated, with 10 people per space... outdoor, a maximum of 50 people with one person per two square metres,” Andrews said.
A statement released by Andrews confirmed that “outdoor entertainment venues can also begin hosting visitors” and that live music will be permitted outdoors only with band members included in the venue limit. Band members must also be at least two metres apart and wear a face mask with "other requirements" also needing to be met.
The easing of restrictions come as Victoria reports no new COVID cases today.
It's expected that more details around the reopening will be revealed tomorrow.
