The COVID pandemic has led to authorities across the globe clamping down further on illegal raves which rage on despite restrictions and harsh penalties.

This past weekend, the BBC reported more than 70 unlicensed events across England, with one street party featuring a DJ and an illegal rave with 300 people, while at least 13 were reportedly killed when police raided a nightclub in Peru.

The deaths at the illegal party in Lima, Peru were the result of a stampede as attendees tried to escape the police raid, with authorities called in to shut down the event as the city has banned large social gatherings and is currently observing a nationwide 10pm curfew.

Organisers of illegal gatherings of more than 30 people in England will potentially be fined £10,000 from this coming Friday, while Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will implement their own enforcement rules.

Earlier this month, an illegal outdoor rave in France drew in 10,000 people, with France 24 reporting that fines from police for organisers were up from last year.
