Famous Sydney venue Carriageworks will officially reopen next month.

Following the announcement earlier this month that it had been saved after going into voluntary administration in May, the Eveleigh multipurpose live space will open its doors to the public on Friday 7 August.

“The future of Carriageworks has been secured thanks to extraordinary support from a group of donors and commitment to providing a long-term precinct lease from the NSW Government," Carriageworks CEO Blair French said.

"The impact of our closure has been felt across a wide range of communities. We are now excited to welcome the public back to Carriageworks to reconnect with and support producers from across the state through the much loved weekly Carriageworks Farmers Market as well as to experience powerful works by Australian and international artists.”

It comes after French announced in May that the COVID pandemic and "the sudden cancellation or postponement of six months of activities due to restrictions on public gatherings" had forced Carriageworks to close.

Since been given a multi-million dollar lifeline, NSW government agency Create NSW has committed to a 10-year lease and a five year funding agreement with Carriageworks Ltd.

Carriageworks has hosted a number of major shows in conjunction with events like Vivid and Sydney Festival, including RÜFÜS DU SOL, FKA Twigs, St Vincent, Goldfrapp, Gotye and Grace Jones
