Queensland police have warned local nightclubs will be on their radar this weekend and have called for all venues to follow the COVID safety rules.
As 7News reports, Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski put nightclubs and partygoers on notice, with some venues already being fined for rule breaches and patrons being kicked out for dancing in the last few weeks.
“We are coming into another weekend and we are looking at nightclubs... and after last weekend we saw improved compliances from the businesses,” Gollschewski said.
“Whilst many of the venues are trying to do the right thing patrons still aren’t getting it.
“We are still seeing large numbers of people gathering, still seeing people not taking it seriously... social distancing is with us and for some time yet."
Queensland currently has three active COVID cases, while one positive test was also confirmed on Wednesday.
