Sydney live venue Carriageworks has been saved thanks to a multimillion dollar lifeline.

After announcing it had gone into voluntary administration in May, Minister for the Arts Don Harwin has confirmed that the Eveleigh venue will carry on.

"We are delighted with this outcome," Harwin said.

"We would like to thank the wonderful donors Geoff Ainsworth and wife Johanna Featherstone, Kerr Neilson, Michael Gonski and The Packer Family Foundation who have so generously contributed to the continuing future of Carriageworks.

“At the heart of it, we are excited for the resident companies of Carriageworks who will also greatly benefit from this announcement.

NSW government agency Create NSW has committed to a 10-year lease and a five year funding agreement with Carriageworks Ltd.

Carriageworks has hosted a number of major shows in conjunction with events like Vivid and Sydney Festival, including RÜFÜS DU SOL, FKA Twigs, St Vincent, Goldfrapp, Gotye and Grace Jones.
