A Melbourne nightclub has been fined $10,000 for breaching COVID restrictions during an event this past weekend.

As The Age reports, Victoria police raided Love Machine in Prahran on Saturday night which was hosting a livestreamed event and attended by up to 50 people, including staff, promoters and friends.

The Malvern Road venue was given a $9,913 fine for failing to comply with COVID restrictions and an additional $991 fine for breaching liquor license conditions.

The incident comes just over a year after a drive-by shooting outside Love Machine resulted in the death of two men, while four more were injured.

Meanwhile, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed that pubs and clubs, as well as concert venues, cinemas and theatres, will be allowed to host up to 50 seated people from next Monday.

"As always, timing on any future changes remains subject to the advice of our Chief Health Officer," Andrews said.

"Because as far as we’ve come – it’s not over yet."
