The 4ESydney hip hop festival and conference will tackle artistic expression and censorship in a newly-announce panel next month.
Taking place at the Byran Brown Theatre in Bankstown from 1-4 April, the panel will discuss censorship in Australian music which has been a controversial topic as of late.
Some of the country's leading industry professionals will take part in the discussion, including L-FRESH The LION hip hop and youth advocates, Randy Glazer and Ian Escando, author Maxine Johns, Onefour manager, Ricky Simandjuntak and facilitator for the discussion, entrepreneur and Pacific Advocate, MC Trey (TapastryCreative).
"Censorship impacts the very cornerstone of an artists freedom of speech and creativity. Looking back through the portals of hip hop history censorship has at times, effectively disrupted an ecosystem, preventing artists from expressing their art form and limiting career progression," Johns said.
"It is beyond necessary for this topic to be discussed across all levels of our local hip hop community."
The 2020 4ESydney, now in its sixth year, will feature over 100 artists and speakers, including Dom Alessio, Omar Musa, Mz Rizk and Ms Hennessey.
