Australian jazz legends The Necks have today released their 21st studio album, Three, ahead of a huge tour of the country this month.

The record features just three contrasting tracks, all a little over 20 minutes each, which sees the trio revisit a format they used on 2006 ARIA Award winning album, Chemist.

“The first track Bloom is intense, dense and chattering,” bassist Lloyd Swanton explains.

“The second track Lovelock is dedicated to the memory of Damien Lovelock and is still, spare and weightless.

"The final track Further is a groove in five meter that conjures an earlier Necks aesthetic. A friend described Further as the love-child of Sex and Aquatic.”

The Necks will celebrate Three's release with a headline tour starting this month in Canberra, before moving on to play in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Cairns and Brisbane.

Tickets for the tour are on sale now. For more details, check out theGuide.
