Artists and music organisations have been recognised with grants as part of the Australia Council's latest round of funding.
Music NT are among the big winners with the organisation being awarded $100,000 as part of the Council's Contemporary Music Touring Program. The funds will go towards helping develop musicians, promote NT music and industry to wider audiences and more. The Western Australian Music Industry Association (WAM) have also been $89,361 to further their programs.
Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio has picked up $75,000 to be used across creative development, workshops, concerts, public access and residencies, while Chapter Music have been award $41,326 to release new albums from eight Australian artists in 2020.
Artist Evelyn Ida Morris has picked up $18,615.57, which will be used for mentoring and career development in the US, including a two week stint shadowing Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago and showcasing at SXSW.
Leah Flanaghan is awarded $29,650 for live show development and touring, Laura Jean has picked up $19,720 to travel to the UK to record her next album, Hatchie scores $23,324 for a US tour and SXSW showcasing, and The Ripple Effect have been awarded $11,250 for a tour of Tasmania and Victoria.
