An unprecedented amount of wildlife has been displaced and injured during Australia’s devastating bushfire crisis, something Twilight At Taronga’s 2020 concert series will help provide relief for.
The annual event, which kicks off February 1 and will this year host Paul Kelly, Bernard Fanning, Mavis Staples, Meg Mac, Kasey Chambers and more, has announced the series will directly support the Wildlife Crisis Appeal, providing help to the koalas, bats, wallabies, echidnas and more impacted by the bushfires.
“Proceeds from Twilight At Taronga were originally announced as contributing to Taronga Zoo’s ongoing conservation work, however in these current conditions it has become clear that the funds are needed for Taronga’s Wildlife Crisis Appeal so that the vast number of affected Australian wildlife can be provided with support,” organisers said.
“Throughout this current crisis, Taronga has been involved in a number of emergency response operations, helping to save wildlife from the devastation of the bushfires and droughts by providing emergency shelter, medical care and rehabilitation.
“Following an initial crisis phase, Taronga will turn its attention to assessing the damage and impact to vital species and setting a long-term recovery strategy. Donations to the Wildlife Crisis Appeal can also be made at all Twilight at Taronga shows.”
Taronga is also accepting donations online.
