Anthony Callea Could Block The National From #1 Aussie Album This Week

After picking up our Album Of The Week, The National are favourites to take out top spot on the ARIA Albums chart this week with Sleep Well Beast, but they could very well be taken down by a veteran Aussie singer. 

According to midweek figures, Anthony Callea's ARIA Number 1 Hits In Symphony is also primed for a top three finish, which is no surprise, given his history on the chart. 

Not only did the 2004 Australian Idol runner up's 2005 debut LP peak at #1, but last year's Backbone also took out top spot following its release. 

Fan-favourite US songwriter Jack Johnson could also land in the top three which his newest offering, All The Light Above It Too, while Kip Moore's Slowheart will contend for a top five debut.

The race for #1 is no guarantee however, as you can expect Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Divide) to also finish the week somewhere in the top five, after it reclaimed top honours last week.

Other albums debuting on the chart this week include Nothing But Thieves' Broken Machine (top ten), Odesza's A Moment Apart (top 15), Arch Enemy's Will To Power and Neil Young's Hitchhiker (both top 20), Thomas Rhett's Life Changes (top 25), the Twin Peaks soundtrack (top 40) and Dustin Lynch's Current Mood (top 50).

Over on the Singles chart, Taylor Swift's two-week reign on top with Look What You Made Me Do could come to an end as midweek figures predict that UK pop singer Sam Smith's new cut, Too Good At Goodbyes, will crack the top three upon its debut. 

Swift has another chance to clinch #1 however, after her latest single, ...Ready For It?, debuted at #3 last week. 

Meanwhile, Imagine Dragons' Thunder is expected to climb from last week's placing of #7 back into the top five. 

Expect to also see Zayn and Australia's own Sia debut in the top ten with Dusk Till Dawn, as well as Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso's Let Me Go featuring Florida Georgia Line and watt, in the top 50.
