Australian Tour 2015 Announced
Yes, it's the tour announcement that Australian rock fans have been losing sleep over and it's finally here. One of the world's biggest rock bands, Foo Fighters, have announced they will return to Australian shores next year for a massive arena tour, taking in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, and Perth, with special guests Rise Against.
Dave Grohl and his band of merry men last toured Australia and New Zealand back in 2011, for a massively acclaimed run of sold-out stadium dates. This time, they'll be traversing our highways with a whole swag of new tunes in tow. Set for release next month, the band's eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, promises to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
As well as some epic shows at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Foo Fighters will be playing their first show in Hobart since 1998 at the Derwent Entertainment Centre - the only indoor show of the entire tour - as well as their first ever show in the New Zeland town of Christchurch.
A massive tour needs some massive touring partners and Grohl and co. have recruited accordingly, inviting Chicago punk rockers Rise Against to share the stage with them. The acclaimed group will be airing tunes from their extensive and much-loved discography, including cuts from their latest full-length effort, the anthemic and fiercely political The Black Market.
Adding some local flavour to the lineup will be Melbourne rockers The Delta Riggs, who'll be appearing at all Australian shows excluding Hobart. Their second full-length effort, Dipz Zebazios, has been getting heavy play on Triple J and their live performances have garnered acclaim from the likes of Jimmy Page (yes, that Jimmy Page).
Readers can check below for all dates and ticketing details, including all pre-sale info. The Foos' last Australian tour sold out fast and the boys are poised to have a repeat this time around. Considering the sheer level of anticipation from fans, tickets won't be around for long.
